Characteristics of supernova remnant G351.7+0.8 and disproof of its association with PSR J1721-3532
New images of the supernova remnant (SNR) G351.7+0.8 are presented based on 21cm HI-line emission and continuum emission data from the Southern Galactic Plane Survey (SGPS). SNR G351.7+0.8 has a flux density of 8.4±0.7 Jy at 1420 MHz. Its spectral index is 0.52±0.25 between 1420 MHz and 843 MHz, typical of adiabatically expanding shell-like remnants. HI observations show structures possibly ass...
متن کاملPsr J1833–1034: Discovery of the Central Young Pulsar in the Supernova Remnant
We have discovered the pulsar associated with the supernova remnant G21.5–0.9. PSR J1833–1034, with spin period P = 61.8 ms and dispersion measure 169 cm−3 pc, is very faint, with pulse-averaged flux density of ≈ 70μJy at a frequency of 1.4 GHz, and was first detected in a deep search with the Parkes telescope. Subsequent observations with Parkes and the Green Bank Telescope have confirmed this...
متن کاملRosat Observations of Psr 2334+61 in the Supernova Remnant G114.3+0.3
We report on the observation of PSR 2334+61 in the soft X-ray domain with ROSAT. Assuming a power-law spectrum dN=dE / E with photon-index = 2 we derive an X-ray ux of f x = (7:10:2)10 14 erg s 1 cm 2 within the 0:1{2:4 keV energy range. An upper limit for the neutron star's surface temperature is put at T 1 s 1:2 10 6 K for a neutron star with a medium stii equation of state (FP-model with M =...
متن کاملPulsar/Supernova Remnant Associations
Pulsar/Supernova Remnant Associations Vicky Kaspi Infrared Processing & Analysis Center, Jet Propulsion Laboratory/ California Institute of Technology Since the discovery of the first pulsar/supernova remnant association not long after the discover of pulsars themselves, the number of proposed associations has grown to nearly 20. In this talk we will critically review the known and proposed sup...
متن کاملBullets in a Core Collapse Supernova Remnant: the Vela Remnant
We use two-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations to investigate the properties of dense ejecta clumps (bullets) in a core collapse supernova remnant, motivated by the observation of protrusions probably caused by clumps in the Vela supernova remnant. The ejecta, with an inner flat and an outer steep power law density distribution, were assumed to freely expand into an ambient medium with a con...
